It’s been a bad couple of weeks for F1-ToGo. My host Network Solutions has gone down twice and the second time for most of last Sunday. I have had enough of their lack of reliability of late and the lack of information, and professionalism from them and am changing hosts.
The last straw was Sunday when I was out of service for most of the day and all they could come up with is ‘we don’t know what the problem is yet‘ or ‘please be patient‘.
I will continue to post as usual while at the same time completing the task of moving the blog.

I’m sure some of you received this error message the morning before the Spanish Grand Prix when visiting F1-ToGo. I did too. Not only did I get it when loading the site, but also my admin area.
Not the best time and not the most informative error message on behalf of Network Solutions. Frantically I called them and was told their system was down and engineers were looking at it. I’m not sure how long this went on as when I tried to log in after getting up that morning (races start at 8am my time) it was down.
If you had patience, thanks a lot, if you didn’t, well, not my fault just my frustration.

Oh my, Grid Boys? Here it is, the Australian Grand Prix will be adding something new this year. Grid Boys!
This is 2008 and ‘man candy’ is going to be used to luer more female fans to the grand prix. Womens groups in Australia are jumping for joy and saying it’s about time.
Featuring pit babes on blogs is kind of fun, but I don’t think I’ll be featuring Grid Boys any time soon.:)
Drew Ward, CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation said
“We know there’s a lot of hidden talent in Melbourne’s suburbs.”
Melbourne breakfast radio host Chrissie Swan said it was a win for women’s rights.
“Grid girls have been a great stable for footy players because I think that’s where they get their girlfriends.”
“It may be nice for the girls to have that option now. I’m all for equality, so it’s a good thing.”

The past couple of days have had me pulling out my hair over a blog caching problem. If you don’t know what I mean by caching, don’t worry about it. My host updated some things and F1-ToGo didn’t like it.
Anyway, the blog is hopefully running ok now. Speed may be an issue though. If it is, contact me so I know.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey all,
F1-ToGo has gone mobile!
I visit web sites on my Blackberry often and get frustrated when the site is shown full size. My screen is only a couple of inches wide and after scrolling and scrolling, I just quit and move on.
It costs too much and takes too much time to load a full page. So I finally tried this site and the same thing.
Mobile browsing is a big thing these days so I jumped into it and made F1-ToGo mobile friendly.
The mobile version of F1-ToGo is streamlined and to the point and is compatible with just about every phone or PDA on the market today and the beauty is that the URL has not changed.
You can also comment through the mobile version.Tag: f1 togo

The DVD Giveaway contest is now closed. It has been going on now for the better part of a month giving anyone plenty of time to find all the answers. Rather than wait another 5 days to draw a winner, I decided to do it today.
The contest was a good success for this young blog and we had 23 participate with 19 of you who got all 5 answers right. Oh, I also received 7 emails of just plain garbage. I hope those people had fun.
For those who didn’t know, the contest was for one copy of the DVD F1 2007 Review - Kimi Made it at Last and we now have a winner.
Congratulations to Arlan Moore of England. Yes a good old Irish boy in England.
Thanks to all who entered this contest.

It has been a difficult past 4 days for me as I have been suffering from a bad case of the flu. F1-ToGo hasn’t seen much in the way of action from me during this time and now that I’m feeling a little better, things should start to get back to normal again just in time for the new year.
I know that visiting a blog with no new content gets a little boring after a while so thank you all for your patience.

I have been reading some lively comments recently and there have been great ones. There are 2 guys here who have been engaged in a discussion around Alonso Back in the Car in January. It is kool to see how we have a small forum created in the comments. Watch them go…
Most recent comments at bottom,..keep going guys!
Reno Spiteri: OK, so Fernando will be testing initially on the R27 between the 14/16th January. This is good because that is the way to compare the performance of the R27 with the new R28 and to make the necessary improvements to have a competitive car for 2008. Renault have won championships with Williams through Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. They won a further two championships with Fernando in 2005 and 2006 when they were racing Ferrari with Michael Shumacher. They have the resources, the expertise and now the driver. So there is nothing to hold them back to have the R28 up there where it belongs: No.1 on the grid.
fast911ray: Correct me if I’m wrong..but did’nt Nigel Mansell [arguably the very best British pilot of the modern era] win a champpionship aboard a Williams-Renault even before Hill and Jacques?
Reno Spiteri: Yes you are quite correct. Nigel Mansell won the Championship in 1992 in a Williams/Renault car, and he was followed by Alain Prost who also won the Championship in a Williams/Renault in 1993.
The Jacques Villeneuve case proves my point in that if you put an excellent driver in a state of the art car his chances of performing and winning a championship are superlative. Damon Hill and Villeneuve eventually fell by the wayside when they moved to Jordan and to BAR respectively.
